Praise

author unknown

Praise is a powerful weapon for spiritual warfare that is often neglected.  Praising the Lord can be a humbling experience, involving singing, lifting of hands to God and weeping.  Men, in particular, have a difficult time getting into this emotional state because of cultural pressures.  When we humble ourselves before the Lord, we invite Him to work through us.
What is Praise?
Definition:  "Glorify by the attribution of perfections"  (Webster's)
Praise is commending, by speaking or singing, the perfections of God.  The writer of Hebrews explained that praise is a sacrifice as the "fruit of our lips" (Hebrews 13:15 NKJV).
What does praise do? Some of the results of praising the Lord include:
  • Greatly pleases God: David noted,  "I will praise God's name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.   This will please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with its horns and hoofs" (Psalm 69:30-31 NIV).
  • Releases God's blessing:   "Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.  Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.  My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips" (Psalm 63:3-5 NKJV)
  • Drives back the enemy in spiritual warfare (see below).
  • Invites God into our lives:  God literally inhabits the praises of His people.  The Amplified Bible states "But You are holy, O You Who dwell in the praises of Israel"  (Psalm 22:3 AMP).
Who should praise the Lord?  Praise is something all people should give the Lord:
  • Everyone in future generations:   "Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the LORD"  (Psalm 102:18 NIV)
  • All nations:  "Praise the LORD, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD" (Psalm 117:1-2 NIV)
  • Everything that has breath:  "Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD" (Psalm 150:6 NIV).
Praise in warfare
  • Praise is a weapon for spiritual warfare:"Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples"  (Psalm 149:6-7 NKJV)
  • Praise silences evil forces:
"From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger."  (Psalm 8:2
    NIV)
  • Praise brings deliverance and victory:
"After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: "Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever."   As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated."   (2 Chronicles 20: 21-22
NIV)  (see 15-22 for the entire story)"The voice of the LORD will shatter Assyria; with his scepter he will strike them down.  Every stroke the LORD lays on them with his punishing rod will be to the music of tambourines and harps, as he fights them in battle with the blows of his arm." (Isaiah 30:31-32 NIV)
  • Praise counters the spirit of despair:   "and provide for those who grieve in Zion--to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor."   (Isaiah 61:3 NIV)
  • Case study:  Jehoshaphat defeats Moab and Ammon (Chronicles 20:1-30)
  • Case study:  David returning the Ark to the City of David (2 Samuel 6:9-23 & 7:1-16)
What we should do:
  • Praise and sing to the Lord:
"Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.  Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre."  (Psalm 33:1-2
    NIV)
  • Praise the Lord continuously:
"I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips." (Psalm 34:1
    NIV)
"Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that confess his name." (Hebrews 13:15
    NIV)
  • Praise the Lord together:
"Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together."  (Psalm 34:3
    NIV)
  • Praise the Lord with singing and music:
"It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands."  (Psalm 92:1-5
    NIV)
  • Praise the Lord for making you:  "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."   (Psalm 139:14-16 NIV)
  • Praise the Lord with thanksgiving whenever we approach Him:
"Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.   For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. "  (Psalm 100:4-5
    NIV)

How do we stay plugged into God?

[christy ]

Everything starts with our thoughts. What you think on determines what you believe and have faith will happen. Eventually you will begin to act on your faith and speak what you believe. This then sets into motion God's laws of sowing and reaping. If we sow God's Word we will see God's Word manifest in our lives. On the contrary, worrying, which is considering options that don't line up with God's Word, is having faith in fear. I John 4:16-18 tells us that God is love and perfect love casts out fear.

I John 4:16-18

And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him.

In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.

There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love's complete perfection].

Fear cannot exist in the presence of God. This means that fear contaminates our faith and unplugs us from God our power source. Staying focused on the Truth in God's Word and considering not the other options is the way to stay connected to God. It's the way we sow the good seeds that we want to see manifest in our lives.

Did You Know That God Took An Oath?

christy (i think so)

One of the most interesting things I learned is in Hebrews 6. When God made His promise to Abraham, He had to swear on Himself since there was no one greater to swear by. (verses 13) In verse 18 we find that it is impossible for God to lie or change because of His promise and His oath. God ABSOLUTELY CANNOT LIE. In Isaiah 55:11 we were also told that God's Word cannot return to Him void. All of these verses give us confidence that what God said He would do must come to pass if we do our part.

Earlier in this study we referred to Hebrews 11:1 where it talks about faith being the assurance or confirmation of things we hope for. Hope is the predecessor to faith. Hope is the inner image that believes things can change or something can happen.

Before we can have faith, we must get a picture of what we want. However, we cannot hope for something that is not in God's Word. We need to find the promise in the Bible that assures us of what is ours in Christ. We then read that verse daily. Meditate on it. Look up the definitions for each word. We start confessing that promise as ours with our words. This will build a true, Biblical hope in us that confidently expects the promise to manifest in the natural realm. We may not see it right now but that's ok. We know that the just shall life by faith. We don't have to see it to believe it. We believe it because God said it and we trust Him that we will see it in due time. This confident expectation becomes faith. This is when we know that we know that God said it and therefore I believe it. Hope moves into faith when the promise goes from "could be" to "it is" in your heart. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. Faith comes out of hope. It's a tangible result. There is substance. Hope and knowledge of God's promises produces faith. Faith in God's love for us moves mountains. Faith in God's love for us heals the sick. It's not our works of faith but the faith we have in God's love for us and His ability to mainfest His presence among us that brings change.

Of course, it's important to again note that all of this starts with the Word.

No Word, No Hope.

No Hope, No Faith.

No Faith, No Results.

In order to have confident expectation, you have to know what God has promised.

The only way to do this is to spend time in God's Word.

As you build up your knowledge of God's promises, your hope and faith will begin to rise.

Did you know that our bodies will respond to our words?

It's been medically proven that the words we speak have a direct affect on our bodies. That is why it is so important that we only say what God says about us.

The following confessions can be used for any sickness.
Simply insert your condition into the confession and begin to stand on God's Word and have faith that you will see results.

I thank You, Jesus, for dying on the cross and redeeming me from the curse of the law. I stand on I Peter 2:24 which says "He personally bore our sins in His (own) body on the tree (as on an alter and offered Himself on it), that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed." I thank You Jesus that by Your stripes I am healed and made whole.
*******************************************

I take the authority that is mine in the Name of Jesus and I command my body to get in line with God's Word right now and funtion in the perfection that God created it to function. I speak to the vertebrae in my neck and back and I command them to get into perfect alignment right now in the Name of Jesus. I speak to the muscles in my neck, back and shoulders and command them to relax. I speak peace to my spirit, soul and body. I thank You Father for creative miracles and restoration in my neck, back and jaw. I thank You Father for the complete manifestation of my healing.
*******************************************

Ephesians 1:21 tells us that the Name of Jesus is higher and more powerful than any other name. Pain is a name therefore in the Name of Jesus I command all pain to go now. I declare that by Jesus' stripes I am the healed and devil you are NOT going to take my healing away from me. The Bible says that if you catch a thief he has to return seven times what he stole. Therefore in the Name of Jesus I declare that you are the thief, devil, and you have been stealing my health. Now in the Name of Jesus I command you to return to me seven times the health and prospertiy that you've stolen from me. I command the Hand of the Lord to be upon you satan and all of your evil coherts now in Jesus name. I thank You Jesus that your healing power is flowing through me right now and I am healed, healthy and whole!"
*******************************************

In the Name of Jesus, I bind you devil and I loose you from your assignment against me. I loose God's ministering angels to go forth and prepare my pathway. I thank you, Father, that you divine healing power is flowing through my spirit, soul, and body. I thank You that the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives big within me and restores to life my mortal body.
*******************************************

In the Name of Jesus I speak to the cells in my body and command them to get in line with God's Word now. I command my heart to beat normally. I command my lungs to breath freely. I command my stomach to digest food properly. I command my blood sugar levels to be normal. I command my hormone levels to be stable. I command my joints to work properly. I thank you Father that every cell in my body functions in the perfection that you created it to function in.
